Our Puppy Care
We strive to breed boxers with good confirmation, temperaments, and coloring:
Birth - 5 Weeks
* Our puppies are born in our home, we sit with the dam and monitor the entire whelping process.
* The puppies are weighed 2x a day until they are 4 weeks old, then 1x a day until they go home.
* When they are 2 days old, they have their dew claws removed, tails docked, and are checked over by our veterinarian.
* Puppies are introduced to potty training at 3 weeks of age. By time they go home, 95% of "pottying" is done in the designated areas.
* Puppies are introduced to toys, kennels, vacuums, and many different sounds and noises while in the house. (Gail's job is a daycare provider...)
* When they are 5 weeks old we move them to our dog room. This is a secluded, heated area under our garage that is set up specifically for the comfort of our dogs and puppies. Their set up is pretty identical to the one in the house, but larger and with some bigger toys to climb on and use.
5 Weeks Old - Going Home at 8 Weeks
* At 5 weeks old the puppies are moved to the area under our garage.
* They are vaccinated at 7 weeks old against canine distemper, adenovirus type 2, para influenza, and parvovirus, and coronavirus.
* We worm the puppies 4x before they go home with their new family.
* All of our puppies are socialized and played with by both their human family, and the adults dogs in our home, so that they are socially rounded and ready for their new home.
* Puppies go to their new homes with a 4lb. bag of Diamond Natural Small Breed Puppy food (we have found they handle the chicken in the small breed puppy food better than the lamb in the large breed puppy food), a blanket, and a toy that has been in the puppy area with the litter.
